Beginning January 15th,
2005-
Jane Goodall’s Wild Chimpanzees
offers a comprehensive look at the
40 years of this world-renowned
wildlife biologist’s legendary
work with the chimpanzees of Tanzania’s
Gombe Stream National Park. The
42-minute takes viewers into the
realm of the wild chimpanzee, a
world few humans have experienced.
Fascinated by the 20-square-mile
park’s charismatic inhabitants,
Dr. Goodall established what has
become the longest continuously
running study of animals in the
wild. Her discoveriesincluding
her unprecedented observations of
chimpanzees making and using toolshave
revolutionized our understanding
of chimps and of human behavior.
A coproduction of the Science Museum
of Minnesota, Science North, and
Discovery Place in cooperation with
the Jane Goodall Institute, Jane
Goodall’s Wild Chimpanzees
is sponsored by Bank of America,
with major funding provided by the
National Science Foundation.
Vikings: Journey
to New Worlds examines the historical
and cultural impact and scientific
and technological achievements of
these legendary seafaring explorers.
Focusing on their greatest accomplishmentthe
exploration of North America 500
years before ColumbusVikings
examines how this remarkable feat
began with the settlement of Iceland,
the exploration and settlement of
Greenland by Erik the Red, and,
15 years later, the exploration
of Vinland (the eastern coast of
North America) by Erik’s son
Leif. Shot on location in Iceland,
Greenland, and Newfoundland, this
breathtaking large-format film brings
the Vikings to life.
